On 1989 of July 3rd, I entered into the world. As my mother seldom likes to remind me that I was born a month early because I'm a 'firecracker'! Hi world! I'm Erika - a 'firecracker', but intro/extroverted entrepreneur, helping individuals succeed one brand at a time.
I’ve been an artist since day one. My favorite subject in grade school was always art, and lunch (debatable if lunch is a subject). It was obvious that my journey after grade school was for me to pursue my BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) and not a regular Bachelor’s Degree, it was just my calling.
After studying fashion design for two years, I've decided to switch majors. And oh boy, how happy I am that I did! Graphic design started off as a hobby, I was doing odd end jobs for family members that quickly became a passion. My studies at school was always applied to my hobby as I returned home to make flyers for a cousin’s wedding or create amateur websites.
Always treating my skill as a side hustle, I began to take myself more serious and realized “I’m actually good at this!” Once my confidence peaked, so did my rates. Since 2005, i’ve been blessed to be able to share my expertise to hundreds of individuals throughout the East Coast who had a vision, and I made it a reality. Slowly but surely i’ve been able to build a brand, develop as a professional and transform from a hobbyist graphic designer to a successful entrepreneur. This was something I was always meant to do!
What many don't know - I never completed my college degree. After investing 7 years of full time and part time schedules, I ran out of financial aid and with no luck of receiving loans I was forced to drop out.
At first discouraged, I didn't allow this unfortunate event to stop me. I began to apply those 7 years I did invest along with self-training, and went full force with it! I had to prove to myself that the years of experience weighed out better than a degree (book about this story is soon to come).
March of 2020 changed everyone's world! And as crazy, sad and chaotic as times has been - the blessing in the mess for me is that I was forced to leave a secure job to work my graphic business full time.
Once again, how happy I am that I did! The reward of stepping out on faith and doing what I love full time is thee best feeling ever. Challenging still, but a confidence stronger than ever. Stressful some days, but peaceful most days.
My clients are not only impressed but my unique design skills - but they see my passion, my heart, my work ethic, my determination and my willingness to assist anyone who has a mind to succeed.
